DESIGN
Mid Modern Makeover
Project Type:
Kitchen Remodel
Location:
Denver, Colorado
The clients' goals for their mid-century home’s kitchen makeover were to increase storage and lighting for cooking and gathering. However, when unused space was maximized and inviting finishes and textures were integrated, the heart of the home was redefined.
The kitchen was enlarged by removing a wall separating the kitchen and an unnecessary hallway. The space gained allowed for a large island to be incorporated for additional storage, plenty of prep space, and seating. A bar area was added to an adjacent wall between the kitchen and family room increasing storage, countertop area, and flow between the spaces.
The kitchen remodel features new appliances, white perimeter kitchen cabinetry with quartz countertops, stained wood island and bar cabinetry and glass upper cabinets framed in stainless steel. The added recessed ceiling lights and large glass pendant fixtures over the island illuminate the space and highlight the island's rich natural stone countertop.
The combination of increasing the footprint, adding an island and bar area, and the use of enhanced finishes created a beautiful kitchen for family interaction and entertaining friends.
