Fresh Farmhouse

Project Type:

Kitchen and Fireplace Remodel

Location:

Ken Karyl, Colorado

This home’s kitchen was basic builder quality and cut off from the adjacent dining and family rooms. The gourmet minded clients wanted an updated open concept space with maximum storage and a bright color palette.

The walls separating the dining and family rooms were removed to have an open flow to the adjoining spaces. A stainless steel range and a well scaled island with counter height seating and full depth cabinets were centered on the opposite existing family room fireplace. A walnut wood mantel and colorful tile in a herringbone pattern was added to the fireplace wall creating defined focal points throughout the combined open areas.

The design was enhanced with white shaker style perimeter cabinetry, white bevel cut tile backsplash, and white quartz countertops. The color palette was elevated with teal-colored island cabinetry and the custom decorative metal vent hood. New commercial grade appliances appealed to the chef like clients and maximized height glass cabinets help store their multiple kitchen accessories and display their collection of colorful items.

A built-in banquette storage bench was added in the window cladded alcove to highlight the view and provide ample seating around the custom walnut wood table and chairs. Coordinating teal-colored open shelves on the adjacent wall help define the eating space from the operational kitchen. On the opposite side of the space, the kitchen opens to the formal dining room with new furnishings and warm woven window coverings. Antique brass accents throughout the open spaces in the hardware, light fixtures and vent hood create interest in the combined areas.

The remodel result is a delightfully fresh farmhouse kitchen that combines a classic look with a colorful touch.
